From The Secretary General’s Desk
The Zimbabwe Red Cross Society's 2012 programme year has begun and we are happy to announce that we are geared to take our place in the local humanitarian space. Our drive is to make a positive difference in the lives of the vulnerable groups. While competing humanitarian needs continue to outweigh available resources, our team of Red Cross staff and volunteers remain committed to satisfying humanitarian needs and promoting human dignity through our nationwide programmes.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all partners that have continued to support the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society over the years. Special mention also goes to new partners that have come on board. Together we will give hope to the disadvantaged of our communities. With your support, I believe 2012 will certainly be a better year for the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society and indeed its beneficiaries. Many vulnerable communities continue to look up to us for their welfare and we will continue implementing our emergency and developmental projects in Zimbabwe.
The Red Cross movement is born out of a desire to save lives and bring relief services to the vulnerable and for that reason; we are motivated to continue doing more. I would therefore want to heartily salute the efforts of our esteemed and cherished partners in the Red Cross movement and other humanitarian agencies for the great work they are doing in providing us with the much needed financial and technical support for our programmes. That support has taken us this far and I am sure even better days beckon.
This year, the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society will be launching a number of local income generating and fundraising programmes and projects as a way of boosting our humanitarian coffers. It is our hope that those efforts will go a long way in aiding and complementing whatever resources and support we would have received from our partners. My call to all Zimbabweans is that you come on board and support the noble work that we are doing. We are indeed a volunteer driven organisation and everyone is welcome to volunteer their time, resources and technical expertise for the good of humanity. Like the Red Cross movement believes; we are our brothers' keepers and let's live up to that mandate. I thank you. |
